The Words they Never Said

So I grew up knowing the truth
the words they never said
but always meant to
we’ll stop you
cause we’re broken too

Like a demons breath
the words they never said
but their eyes darting
across the room
afraid to be closer too

It’s fine by me
the words they never said
cause the truth is known
by other dreams instead
they always tried
and now they’re gone

Senses are not required for
the words they never said
writen or otherwise
communication is always on
and listening requires no ears

A touch, a squeeze, a smile, a sneer
the words they never said
spoke of all they dreamt
their fears their tears
the wasted life of dread

Afraid and confused, too proud and abused
the words they never said
loud and clear they tread
like a demon’s breath
cause we’re broken too
